iris's chocolate wacky cake
I don't know who Iris was, but the recipe was given to me several decades ago with this title. It is very easy and fast to make. It tastes like it is much richer than it really is. I don't bother to ice the cake. A sprinkle of confectioners sugar looks nice and is sweet enough. You won't miss the egg.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 tablespoons good quality cocoa - not hot chocolate mix
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 6 tablespoons vegetable oil or 1/3 c. oil
- 1 cup water
How To Make iris's chocolate wacky cake

Step 1Into an 8 or 9 inch square pan, stir flour, sugar, cocoa, salt and soda. I stir with a fork.

Step 2Make 3 holes in the dry ingredients. Into one hole pour the vanilla, into the second hole put the vegetable oil, and into the third hole pour the vinegar.

Step 3Pour water over all and stir with the fork until dry ingredients are well blended.

Step 4Bake in a 350 degree oven for approximately 30 minutes or until done. Allow to cool before icing, You can cut and serve this cake right from the cake pan.
