These sweet and salty breakfast sandwiches are a delicious way to start the day. They're similar to a Monte Cristo sandwich; basically, a ham and cheese-filled French toast. The sandwich is a wonderful blend of sweet, savory, and salty. When griddled, the bread is soft, but the egg mixture gets a little crispy. Inside is ham and gooey melted cheese. Topped with sweet powdered sugar and maple syrup bring this breakfast sandwich to another level.

- 8 slices bread, any kind
- 4 slices deli ham
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 large eggs
- 4 tablespoons milk
- 4 teaspoons butter
- 4 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
How To Make easy sweet and salty breakfast sammie

Step 1Preheat a griddle or skillet to 350 degrees. Place each piece of ham and cheese inside two pieces of bread, making 4 sandwiches.

Step 2In a medium bowl, beat eggs and milk.

Step 3Spray the heated cooking surface with nonstick cooking spray and then place butter evenly over the cooking surface to melt.

Step 4Dip each sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides.

Step 5Place each on top of melted butter.

Step 6Grill on both sides, flipping, until golden brown.

Step 7Serve with a sprinkling of powdered sugar.

Step 8Drizzle with warm maple syrup. I eat mine without sugar and syrup sometimes, too.
