coffee cake muffins
I found this recipe in an old Midwest Living magazine. This recipe calls for sour cream, however I did not have any. It tasted delicious just the same.

Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup shortening, butter flavor
- 4 ounces sour cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup nuts, chopped
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
How To Make coffee cake muffins

Step 1Makes 6 regular size muffins.

Step 2In large mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Cut in the shortening till the flour mixture is crumbly.

Step 3In another mixing bowl. stir together the sour cream, 1/2 cup sugar, the milk and egg. Add these to the dry ingredients and stir all till the mixture is combined.

Step 4Stir together brown sugar, nuts and 2 Tablespoons sugar and cinnamon.

Step 5Spoon half the batter into muffin cups. Sprinkle half of the nut mixture into cups. Top with remaining batter and the remaining nut mixture.

Step 6Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes or till toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean.

Step 7Cool on wire rack.
