Ingredients
- 6 - 1/2 inch slices challah bread, day old
- 1 cup milk
- 2 - eggs
- - pinch salt
- 1 teaspoon honey (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon grated orange zest (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon oil
How To Make challah french toast

Step 1Whisk eggs and milk. Add orange zest, honey and vanilla. Add salt and cinnamon.

Step 2Soak bread slices for 5-6 minutes, turning once. Remove the soaked bread to a rack suspended over a cookie sheet (to catch drippings) and let it sit for a couple of minutes to fully absorb all the liquid (optional).

Step 3Melt unsalted butter and oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the bread and cook 2-3 minutes on each side. Can remove the slices to a rack over a cookie sheet and place in 350 degree oven for 5 minutes to make sure the soaked bread is well cooked all the way through (optional).
