  • 1 1/2 c
    chopped dates (lightly sugared)
  • 1 1/2 c
    hot water
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, softened
  • 2 1/4 c
    flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 3/4 c
    coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2
    eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract

How to Make Awesome Date Nut Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. In a large bowl, combine the dat, water and butter. Let stand for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, walnuts,and baking soda.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the eggs, vanilla and date mixture. Stir into dry ingredients. Do not drain the water out of the dates. Stir until well blended.
  4. Pour into two 8 in. x 4 in. loaf pans. Bake at 375 degrees for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cover loosely with foil if the top browns too quickly. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire rack
