Copycat recipe for Jimmy Dean or Kroger sage sausage.

I found this recipe on when looking for a way to use ground pork. The original recipe calls for Accent we omit that due to my husband having a severe allergy to MSG. It works wonderfully in breakfast burritos and breakfast casseroles.

  • 16 oz
    ground pork
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried parsely
  • 3/4 tsp
    ground sage
  • 1/4 tsp
    coarse ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 1/4 tsp
    dried red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 tsp

How to Make Sage Breakfast Sausage


  1. Mix all ingredients together.
  2. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to 24 hours to allow the flavors to develop.
  3. Shape into patties and brown or brown to be used in breakfast casseroles or burritos
