My Mom used to treat us with grapefruit made this way, only I add the addition of cinnamon butter. A delicious way to enjoy a grapefruit. I use light butter and Splenda brown sugar to cut down on fat and calories. Just as good! I don't just make these for breakfast. I make them anytime I'm craving grapefruit. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 - pink grapefruit - halved and sectioned
  • 2 tablespoons splenda brown sugar or regular brown sugar...more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon light butter
  • couple - sprinkles cinnamon
  • marachinos - for garnish, optional

How To Make ~ my oh so tasty grapefruit ~

  • Step 1
    Turn on broiler. Cut your grapefruit, evenly in half.
  • Step 2
    With a very sharp knife, go around the inside edge of skin and cut grapefruit loose. Then take knife and cut between membrane of grapefruit sections.
  • Step 3
    Mix cinnamon with butter.
  • Step 4
    Place halves in an oven safe baking dish. Split the butter between the 2 grapefruit halves.Spread as evenly as can.
  • Step 5
    Spread 1 tablespoon brown sugar over each halve.
  • Step 6
    Place oven rack to second notch from the top. Broil for 8 - 10 minutes or until caramelizing and bubbly.
  • Step 7
    Place a maraschino cherry in the center if desired. I sliced some banana to place around the edges. Delicious!
