I love this recipe so much that I make it for Christmas breakfast every year! You can put it together the night before and just pop it into the oven in the morning... yummy!

Ingredients

  • 6 slices white or other bread
  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 pound pork sausage
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar (or cheese of your choice)
  • 6 - eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

How To Make sausage breakfast casserole

  • Step 1
    Trim crusts from bread slices; reserve for another use. Spread butter over 1 side of each bread slice. Place bread slices, buttered side up, in bottom of lightly greased 13"x9" pan; set aside.
  • Step 2
    Brown sausage in skillet, stirring until it crumbles; drain. Spoon sausage over bread; sprinkle with cheese.
  • Step 3
    Combine eggs, half-and-half, and salt; pour over cheese. Cover & chill 8 hours or overnight.
  • Step 4
    Remove from refrigerator; let stand, covered, 15 min. Uncover and bake at 350° for 45 min or till golden.
