It is a great dish to serve instead of eggs. It goes well with fresh fruit, and hot coffee.

2 lb
jimmy dean sausage
1/2
loaf of french bread
2 c
mexican shredded cheese
8
eggs
21/2 c
milk
salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Portugese Egg Casserole

Step-by-Step

  • 1Brown sausage and break up into small pieces. Cut bread into cubes and place in a 9 x 12 buttered dish. Cover bread with cheese. Sprinkle sausage over cheese.
  • 2Mix together eggs, milk, and spices.(I use salt and pepper, but my friend uses dill to taste as well- beat well. Pour over contents in the baking dish and tilt pan to spread evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • 3Bake at 300 degrees for 60 minutes.
