It is a great dish to serve instead of eggs. It goes well with fresh fruit, and hot coffee.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds jimmy dean sausage
  • 1/2 - loaf of french bread
  • 2 cups mexican shredded cheese
  • 8 - eggs
  • 21/2 cups milk
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make portugese egg casserole

  • Step 1
    Brown sausage and break up into small pieces. Cut bread into cubes and place in a 9 x 12 buttered dish. Cover bread with cheese. Sprinkle sausage over cheese.
  • Step 2
    Mix together eggs, milk, and spices.(I use salt and pepper, but my friend uses dill to taste as well- beat well. Pour over contents in the baking dish and tilt pan to spread evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 300 degrees for 60 minutes.
