My father-in-law has a pear tree in his yard and brought me over a garbage sack of ripe pears one day. I found this recipe in an old recipe book my mother had. I gave away and froze the remaining bread for another day!

Great with coffee in the morning or an afternoon snack!

fresh or canned pears
1/2 c
1 c
1/4 c
sour cream
1 tsp
vanilla extract
2 c
all purpose flour
1/2 tsp
1 tsp
baking soda
1/4 tsp
1/4 tsp
1/2 c
nuts, chopped

How to Make Pear Bread


  • 1Beat oil and sugar until well blended. Beat in aggs, one at a time. Add sour cream and vanilla.
  • 2Sift together flour, Salt, soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to wet mixture. Beat until well blended. Fold in pears and nuts.
  • 3Spoon into a 9x5 inch loaf pan
  • 4Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then turn out and cool on rack.
