My father-in-law has a pear tree in his yard and brought me over a garbage sack of ripe pears one day. I found this recipe in an old recipe book my mother had. I gave away and froze the remaining bread for another day! Great with coffee in the morning or an afternoon snack!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or canned pears
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped

How To Make pear bread

  • Step 1
    Beat oil and sugar until well blended. Beat in aggs, one at a time. Add sour cream and vanilla.
  • Step 2
    Sift together flour, Salt, soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add to wet mixture. Beat until well blended. Fold in pears and nuts.
  • Step 3
    Spoon into a 9x5 inch loaf pan
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then turn out and cool on rack.
