Ingredients

  • 3 cups orange juice,divided
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 9 slices texas toast
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • - to make sauce
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • - powdered sugar for dusting
  • - fresh mint for garnish
  • 1 - sliced orange,reserve peel for garnish
  • 2 cups water( for sauce)

How To Make orange french toast with orange sauce

  • Step 1
    In large bowl,combine 1 cup orange juice,heavy cream, eggs,cinnamon,1/4 cup sugar and nutmeg.Soak bread slices in mixture until saturated.In large skillet heat olive oil and butter.Fry bread slices in skillet on both sides until golden brown.Cut into triangles.
  • Step 2
    To make sauce: In small bowl combine cornstarch,one teaspoon water and stir to make a paste.In large sauce pan combine remaining 2 cups orange juice,2 cups water,, salt,corn starch paste and remaining 2 Tablespoons sugar.Heat and add melted butter,heat until sauce is a little thicker than syrup.Keep warm until serving.
  • Step 3
    To serve: Place three French toast triangles on each plate.Pour 1 Tablespoon sauce over toast and sprinkle with powdered sugar.Place mint and orange slices in center of French toast.Garnish with a twist of orange peel.
