There is nothing better to me than a good breakfast casserole. It's so nice to wake in the morning, and pop this in the oven..can't get any easier than that....Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound roll sausage, i use bob evans spicy sausage
  • 8 - eggs
  • 10 slices bread, cut into cubes (about 10 cups) i use french bread
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 - 10 ounces package frozen cut asparagus, thawed and drained
  • 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt

How To Make morning strata

  • Step 1
    Crumble sausage and onion in large skillet. Cook over medium heat until browned, stirring occasionally. Drain off any drippings. Whisk eggs in large bowl. Add sausage and remaining ingredients; mix well.
  • Step 2
    Spoon into greased 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Cover; refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
  • Step 3
    Preheat oven to 350 F. Bake 60 to 70 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes before cutting into squares; serve hot.
