There is nothing better to me than a good breakfast casserole. It's so nice to wake in the morning, and pop this in the oven..can't get any easier than that....Enjoy!

  • 1 lb
    roll sausage, i use bob evans spicy sausage
  • 8
  • 10 slice
    bread, cut into cubes (about 10 cups) i use french bread
  • 3 c
  • 2 c
    shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 c
    sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1/4 c
    onions, chopped
  • 1 - 10 oz
    package frozen cut asparagus, thawed and drained
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter, melted
  • 1 Tbsp
    dry mustard
  • 2 tsp
    dried basil leaves
  • 1 tsp

How to Make Morning Strata


  1. Crumble sausage and onion in large skillet. Cook over medium heat until browned, stirring occasionally.

    Drain off any drippings. Whisk eggs in large bowl.

    Add sausage and remaining ingredients; mix well.
  2. Spoon into greased 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Cover; refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat oven to 350 F. Bake 60 to 70 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean.

    Let stand 5 minutes before cutting into squares; serve hot.
