If you are making this for someone who can't eat a lot of salt... or just dont like spicy food(s). Dont add the salt, pepper and tabasco to the recipe.
Each individual can add those as they sit down to eat...

  • 1 c
    quick cooking grits
  • 3 c
    water, boiling
  • 1 c
  • 1 lb
    breakfast sausage
  • 1 small
    onion, chopped
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 2 c
    sharpe cheddar cheese, grated
  • ·
    salt and pepper ( to taste)
  • ·
    tabasco sauce ( to taste)

How to Make "Kiss My Grits" Casserole


  1. Combine water, milk, salt and pepper ( to your liking)
    Bring to a boil
  2. Add grits.
    Stir, cover and cook for 5 minutes on low.
  3. Saute' onion and sausage in a nonstick skillet until onion is transparent and sausage is not pink.
    Drain fat.
  4. In a bowl, combine grits,
    sausage, and onion mixture.
  5. also add beaten egg,
    1 cup of cheese
    and tabasco sauce ( to your taste)
  6. Spray 2-quart casserole dish with Pam cooking spray
    Bake at 350* for 30 minutes
  7. The last 10 minutes of cook time,
    top with the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese
