Ingredients

  • 8 large eggs
  • 2½ cups milk
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • ¼ cup green or sweet onion, diced
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 pound sausage, browned and crumbled
  • 6 slices sandwich bread, cubed
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • ¼-½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 dash nutmeg

How To Make grandma's breakfast bake

  • Step 1
    Grease a 9x13 baking dish and mix the bread cubes, peppers, onion and sausage in the baking dish.
  • Step 2
    In a medium mixing bowl mix the eggs, milk and spices.
  • Step 3
    Pour egg mixture over the bread and sausage mixture.
  • Step 4
    Top with cheese.
  • Step 5
    Can be made the night ahead, just cover tightly and refrigerate. Pull out from fridge about 30 minutes before baking.
  • Step 6
    Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes or until the top if golden brown and the center reaches an internal temperature of 160°F.
