Ingredients
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 2 tablespoons light colored corn syrup
- 1 pound on sliced cinnamon bread cut into one-inch slices
- 8 large eggs, beaten
- 3 cups half-and-half or light cream
- 2 tablespoons vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon orange liqueur (optional)
How To Make french toast casserole

Step 1In a medium saucepan combine brown sugar, butter, and corn syrup. Cook and stir until mixture comes to a boil. Boil, uncovered, for 1 minute. Pour brown sugar mixture evenly into 3 quart rectangular baking dish.

Step 2Arrange bread slices on top of brown sugar mixture. Combine eggs, and half-and-half, vanilla and salt; pour evenly over bread slices. Cover and chill up to 24 hours.

Step 3Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake, uncovered, for 40 to 45 minutes until top is fluffy and brown, and a knife inserted near center comes out clean. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving. If desired, drizzle with orange liqueur.
