crescent sausage casserole
This is a scrumptious breakfast or brunch casserole. It has all the elements of breakfast in one dish and is easy and fast to make. It is so good that all bridal and baby showers at my work are now planned in the morning and I'm asked to bring this as refreshment!
Blue Ribbon Recipe
Ok, TWO bricks of cream cheese may sound like a lot to you... and you'd be right! But it's this healthy amount of cheese that makes this crescent sausage casserole so decadently creamy and rich. Easy to throw together, the hot sausage gives the casserole a punch of flavor but the cream cheese mellows out the spice. Enjoy this casserole for any meal, but it's really delicious alongside eggs for a nice brunch.

Test Kitchen Tips
If you can find sheets of crescent dough at your grocery store, this is the perfect recipe to use them and makes prep even easier. If not, the standard rolls will work, just press the seams together as best you can.
-
Step 1Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
-
Step 2Cook the sausages in a skillet until done and drain off the grease. Transfer to a medium bowl.
-
Step 3Add the cream cheese to the cooked, warm sausage, and mix together.
-
Step 4Unroll one can of crescent rolls and spread it out in the bottom of the baking dish, pressing the seams together.
-
Step 5Spread the sausage mixture over the top of the crescent roll layer.
-
Step 6Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the sausage layer.
-
Step 7Unroll the second can of crescent rolls and place it on top.
-
Step 8Bake the casserole until golden brown on top; approximately 20-25 minutes.
