breakfast cheese bake !

This is an easy make ahead dish. Make the night before and bake in the morning.... or make in the morning for dinner! *** You can add cubed ham, cooked sausage, cooked potatoes (cubed), chopped red and green bell pepper (diced), onion (diced)... add whatever you like.... We like to add saute'd yellow and green zucchini... We double the recipe and use larger pan as needed.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices white bread, cut in 1 inch cubes
  • 1/2 pound shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 large eggs (beaten)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper (or ground cayenne pepper)
  • OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS:
  • 1/2 cup cooked, diced potato
  • 1/2 cup cooked, diced ham
  • 1/2 cup red, green bell pepper diced
  • 1/2 cup diced onion of choice

How To Make breakfast cheese bake !

  • Step 1
    Grease square (8x8 or 9x9 inch baking dish with generous amount of butter.
  • Step 2
    Layer bread, cheese (and any optional ingredients) until all is used.
  • Step 3
    Beat eggs, milk, salt, ground black pepper, ground mustard and ground red pepper.
  • Step 4
    Pour over bread and let set over night in refrigerator.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 350 for 30-45 minutes.
