This is a breakfast dish, but it also makes a nice side dish for dinner.

Ingredients

  • 4 1/4 cups water
  • 1 cup yellow grits
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 16 ounces cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked & crumbled

How To Make cheese grits casserole

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Step 2
    Put the water in a pot and bring to a boil.
  • Step 3
    Stir in the grits and cook until thick, about 5 minutes. Stir frequently.
  • Step 4
    Add garlic powder, salt, cheese and butter. Mix well.
  • Step 5
    Put eggs and milk in a small bowl and beat together. Add slowly to the grits.
  • Step 6
    Pour mixture into a greased baking dish and bake for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and sprinkle bacon on top.
