Ingredients

  • 2 pounds sausage
  • 12 slices bread, crusts trimmed away
  • - butter, softened
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
  • 8 - eggs
  • 1 quart half and half
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard

How To Make breakfast sausage casserole

  • Step 1
    Brown sausage - Drain.
  • Step 2
    Butter a 9 x 13 flat pan.
  • Step 3
    Butter 6 slices of bread and place in pan buttered side down.
  • Step 4
    Sprinkle with sausage, then cheese.
  • Step 5
    Butter 6 more slices of bread and place buttered side up over the sausage and cheese mixture.
  • Step 6
    Mix together eggs, milk and salt and mustard.
  • Step 7
    Pour over bread, sausage, cheese and let set in the refrigerator overnight.
  • Step 8
    Bake at 350 for an hour.
  • Step 9
    Let set 20 to 30 minutes after you take it out of the oven so the egg mixture will set.
