breakfast casserole
This breakfast casserole has been part of our Christmas morning breakfast for years. I cooked at a church camp for many years, and I fixed this at least one morning during the week of camp for 100 teenagers. They loved it! So easy. Better if made the night before. You can use cooked sausage, bacon, or ham.

- 1 pound pork sausage
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 eggs
- 2 cups milk

How To Make breakfast casserole
-
Step 1Brown sausage in a skillet on the stove top. Drain off any grease.
-
Step 2Place 6 slices of buttered bread (both sides) on the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish.
-
Step 3Sprinkle cooked sausage on top of the bread.
-
Step 4Sprinkle cheese over the sausage.
-
Step 5Whisk eggs, milk, salt, and pepper together in a large bowl.
-
Step 6Pour egg mixture over cheese, and press down with back of a spoon.
-
Step 7Refrigerate overnight OR bake immediately. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes to 1 hour. If your oven browns quickly, you can cover it with foil to keep it from getting too brown.
