I got this recipe from a girl at work and added a few touches. Everyone loves it. The only problem is keeping it warm if you need to take it somewhere.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 10 slices bread (crust removed and cubed or torn)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup light cream (half & half)
  • 6 - eggs
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup shredded swiss cheese
  • 1 pound mushrooms (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon each - salt & pepper

How To Make breakfast casserole

  • Step 1
    Thoroughly cook sausage. Beat eggs. Beat in milk, cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt & pepper. Place cubed bread in greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Spoon sausage on top of bread. Sprinkle cheese and mushrooms on top of bread and sausage. DON'T BLEND THE CHEESE WITH THE MILK TO SAVE TIME; IT MAKES IT MUSHY. Pour egg mixture over top of other ingredients. Cover with foil and store in fridge overnight. Bake covered in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes.
