salt
2 2/3 c
water
2/3 c
quick cooking hominy grits
2 Tbsp
butter
6 oz
cheddar cheese, shredded
2
eggs, beaten
1/8 tsp
pepper

How to Make Baked Cheese Grits

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2Grease a 2-quart baking dish.
  • 3Add salt to water.
  • 4Bring to a full, rolling boil.
  • 5Add grits; return to boiling point.
  • 6Cook, stirring constantly, until very thick, about 6 minutes.
  • 7Remove from heat.
  • 8Add fat.
  • 9Mix cheese, eggs and pepper.
  • 10Stir into grits.
  • 11Pour into baking dish.
  • 12Bake 40 minutes or until lightly browned.
