Ingredients
- 4 - eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 cup half-and-half or light cream
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 8 - slices dry white or whole wheat bread
- 2 tablespoons butter or vegetable oil
- - maple-flavored syrup
- - sliced bananas (optional)
How To Make vanilla french toast

Step 1In a shallow bowl, beat together eggs, half-and-half, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Dip bread slices into egg mixture, coating both sides.

Step 2In a very large skillet or on a griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter over medium heat. Add half of the bread slices and cook for 4 to 6 minutes or until golden, turning once. Repeat with remaining bread slices and the remaining butter. Serve with maple syrup and sliced bananas.
