I don't remember where or from whom I got this recipe. I believe it was my Grandmother. She was from Alabama and one of the best cooks and bakers I have ever known. This is a comfy food. I have never had complaints about it. I hope you enjoy it.

Ingredients For sweet cinnamon bread

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 1/2 c
    corn oil
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2
    eggs
  • STREUSIL
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 2 tsp
    butter (slighted softened)

How To Make sweet cinnamon bread

    PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES. GREASE AND FLOUR BOTTOM ONLY OF A 9X5 INCH LOAF PAN. YOU CAN ALSO USE A BUNT PAN BUT GREASE AND FLOUR ENTIRE PAN

    LIGHTLY SPOON FLOUR INTO A MEASURING CUP, LEVEL OFF. IN A LARGE BOWL COMBINE ALL BREAD INGREDIENTS, BEAT 3 MINUTES AT MEDIUM SPEED. POUR BATTER INTO PREPARED PAN.

    IN SMALL BOWL COMBINE ALL STEUSIL INGREDIENTS UNTIL CRUMBLY; SPRINKLE OVER BATTER AND SWIRL LIGHTLY TO MARBLE.

    BAKE AT 350 DEGREES FOR 45 TO 55 MINUTES OR UNTIL TOOTH PICK INSERTED IN THE MIDDLE COMES OUT CLEAN. REMOVE LOAF FROM PAN IMMEDIATLEY. COOL COMPLETELY BEFORE SLICING.

    NOTE TO BAKERS. TO SUBSTITUTE THE BUTTERMILK USE 1 TABLESPOON OF VINEGAR OR LEMON JUICE TO 1 CUP MILK. I DON'T NORMALLY BUY BUTTERMILK AND THIS WAS A HUGE HELP.
