I don't remember where or from whom I got this recipe. I believe it was my Grandmother. She was from Alabama and one of the best cooks and bakers I have ever known. This is a comfy food. I have never had complaints about it. I hope you enjoy it.

Ingredients

2 c
all purpose flour
1 c
sugar
4 tsp
baking powder
1 1/2 tsp
cinnamon
1 1/4 tsp
salt
1 c
buttermilk
1/2 c
corn oil
2 tsp
vanilla extract
2
eggs

STREUSIL

2 Tbsp
sugar
1 tsp
cinnamon
2 tsp
butter (slighted softened)

How to Make SWEET CINNAMON BREAD

Step-by-Step

  • 1PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES. GREASE AND FLOUR BOTTOM ONLY OF A 9X5 INCH LOAF PAN. YOU CAN ALSO USE A BUNT PAN BUT GREASE AND FLOUR ENTIRE PAN
  • 2LIGHTLY SPOON FLOUR INTO A MEASURING CUP, LEVEL OFF. IN A LARGE BOWL COMBINE ALL BREAD INGREDIENTS, BEAT 3 MINUTES AT MEDIUM SPEED. POUR BATTER INTO PREPARED PAN.
  • 3IN SMALL BOWL COMBINE ALL STEUSIL INGREDIENTS UNTIL CRUMBLY; SPRINKLE OVER BATTER AND SWIRL LIGHTLY TO MARBLE.
  • 4BAKE AT 350 DEGREES FOR 45 TO 55 MINUTES OR UNTIL TOOTH PICK INSERTED IN THE MIDDLE COMES OUT CLEAN. REMOVE LOAF FROM PAN IMMEDIATLEY. COOL COMPLETELY BEFORE SLICING.
  • 5NOTE TO BAKERS. TO SUBSTITUTE THE BUTTERMILK USE 1 TABLESPOON OF VINEGAR OR LEMON JUICE TO 1 CUP MILK. I DON'T NORMALLY BUY BUTTERMILK AND THIS WAS A HUGE HELP.
