This is a recipe handed down from my grandmother, and my father baked these on Sundays with a big meal. They are really amazing.

Ingredients

  • 3 packages rapid rise yeast
  • 2 cups milk
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 5 cups all purpose flour

How To Make sweet bread

  • Step 1
    Mix yeast and sugar. Heat milk to 120 degrees add to yeast and sugar. let set for 10 minutes
  • Step 2
    start melting butter. add flour one cup at a time mixing as you go. after 2 cups flour, add melted butter, mix
  • Step 3
    add a 1/4 teaspoon salt to slow process. finish adding flour, spread flour on kneading surface and knead for 15 miutes. Let rise for one hour.
  • Step 4
    Knock down and make sweet rolls, parkerhouse rolls, bread by loaf or even a sweet treat of cinnamon rolls. Once in pan let rise for one more hour.
