I remember coming home after school to the wonderful aroma of spices, my Mom made this Gingerbread as an after school snack. Today, this is one of my favorites.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 - eggs, beaten
- 2 1/2 cups sifted all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1 cup steen's syrup
- 1 cup boiling water
How To Make steen's gingerbread

Step 1Cream the shortening and sugar until fluffy.

Step 2Add eggs, sifted all purpose flour, baking powder, soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and cloves alternately with the Steen Syrup and water.

Step 3Beat enough to mix thoroughly, pour into a well-greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes
