This recipe can be doubled. I have used canned pumpkin instead of squash and it is still mighty tasty

    butternut squash,cooked
  • 2/3 c
  • 2 2/3 c

    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 2/3 c
  • 2/3 c
    chopped walnuts

How to Make Squash Bread


  1. grease and flour 2 large loaf pans
  2. blend squash, shortening and sugar
  3. add eggs and water
  4. sift together flour, soda, salt,b.powder,cinnamon and cloves. Add to squash mixture, blend well
  5. Add nuts and raisins mix
  6. Bake preheated oven 350* for 1 hour and 10 min. or toothpick comes out clean.
