Ingredients
- 1 cup sour buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 - egg
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons crisco shortening
- - enough flour to form soft dough
How To Make sour dough donuts

Step 1Add baking soda to milk,whisk until foamy,add egg, sugar,salt,nutmeg, and crisco and mix throughly,then begin to add flour 1 cup at a time until your dough becomes soft and slightly moist.Empty dough onto floured surface and roll slightly in flour to make dough workable.Roll to 1/3 inches and cut out with doughnut cutter.Deep fry in hot oil until golden, flipping over to cook back side.sprinkle with sugar cinnamon while hot or cool to frost.
