I think I may have mentioned a time or two how much I like the flavor of cardamom. Here is an old recipe that I haven't made in years, it came to mind when I made the Earl Grey Tea Loaf I pinched from on here today. I will have to bake a few and put them in the freezer for those days when we are looking for something to go with a good cup of tea.

2 c
unbleached white flour
2 tsp
cardamon, freshly ground
1 tsp
cinnamon, ground
1 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
kosher salt
3 large
1/4 c
1 c
sour cream
10 Tbsp
butter, unsalted, melted

How to Make Scandinavian Cardamom Tea Loaf


  • 1Preheat oven to 350°F.

    Grease and flour a loaf pan.
  • 2Combine dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside.

    Beat eggs and sugar together until creamy. Add dry ingredients and mix until combined. Mix in sour cream and melted butter.
  • 3Pour batter into prepared pan, baking until done, about an hour.

    Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then turn out onto rack and finish cooling.

    Dust with powdered sugar.
