roman apple cake

This is one of my son's--who is very picky even at age 21!--favorite snacks. I use any kind of apple I happen to have but we prefer macintosh or haralson.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 - eggs
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped apples
- 1 cup buttermilk
- TOPPING
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
How To Make roman apple cake

Step 1Grease 9 X 13 pan. Preheat oven to 325.

Step 2Cream together butter and sugars. Add remaining ingredients. Sprinkle topping over batter. (Stick a toothpick or tester down into top in several places so it won't just form a crust and not bake through.)

Step 3Bake 35-40 minutes.
