quick yeast rolls

If you love yeast rolls but don't have the time to make them, then this is the recipe for you. You just mix the ingredients together and pop them in the oven or the refrigerator for another time. No need to let them rise. They are delicious and easy. You can use your imagination and make cinnamon rolls or pizza rolls with this same recipe.

Ingredients

  • 3 packages active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 5 cups self rising flour (if you use all purpose flour, add 1 tsp. salt and 2 tsp baking powder)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter flavored shortening
  • 2 cups lukewarm buttermilk

How To Make quick yeast rolls

  • Step 1
    Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.
  • Step 2
    Mix flour, sugar and soda. Cut in shortening. Add buttermilk and yeast. Mix; Turn dough out onto a floured work surface and knead lightly. Shape into desired shapes. Place on a baking sheet or muffin tin that has been sprayed with Pam. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. When almost brown, brush tops with melted butter.
