This is a beloved recipe of my Grandmother,a fast easy bread to make in a pinch for breakfast, for gift or whatever your occasion. My kids love it & ask for it often dress it up with blue berries or dried cranberries.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup orange juice, fresh you can use bottled of course
  • 2 tablespoons grated orange rinds, i use candied
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup dates, chopped or dried cranberries (optional)
  • 1 - egg beaten
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

How To Make quick orange bread

  • Step 1
    Stir ingredients in order given, sift flour, salt, baking powder & baking soda for smoother stirring.
  • Step 2
    Bake in greased loaf pan, in 325 oven 45 minutes or until golden & set. Makes one large loaf or 2 smaller loaves
