I love pumpkin bread and added the streusel topping. Wow! Adds a richness to the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger (optional)
  • 2 cups solid pack pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 4 - eggs
  • 3/4 to1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • TOPPING
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (ground)
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter

How To Make pumpkin bread with streusel topping

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour three loaf pans. Combine topping ingredients until mixture is crumbly; set aside
  • Step 2
    Measure flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and spices into a large bowl. Stir to blend.
  • Step 3
    Add pumpkin, water, salad oil, eggs, and nuts. Beat until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pans. Sprinkle topping evenly on loafs.
  • Step 4
    Bake approximately 1 hour. Loaves are done when toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let rest in pans for 5 minutes. Remove from pans and cool on a rack. These loafs cut better when cooled.
