I love pumpkin bread and added the streusel topping. Wow! Adds a richness to the recipe.

  • 3 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • 1 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp
    ginger (optional)
  • 2 c
    solid pack pumpkin puree
  • 1 c
    vegetable oil
  • 2/3 c
    water
  • 4
    eggs
  • 3/4 to1 c
    chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • TOPPING

  • 3/4 c
    chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar (packed)
  • 1/3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon (ground)
  • 4 Tbsp
    melted butter

How to Make Pumpkin Bread with Streusel Topping

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour three loaf pans. Combine topping ingredients until mixture is crumbly; set aside
  2. Measure flour, sugar, baking soda, salt and spices into a large bowl. Stir to blend.
  3. Add pumpkin, water, salad oil, eggs, and nuts. Beat until well combined. Pour batter into prepared pans. Sprinkle topping evenly on loafs.
  4. Bake approximately 1 hour. Loaves are done when toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
    Let rest in pans for 5 minutes. Remove from pans and cool on a rack. These loafs cut better when cooled.
