Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 can pumpkin
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 3 1/3 cups all-purpose flour

How To Make pumpkin bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray the bottom of a large loaf pan or several miniature loaf pans with nonstick spray.
  • Step 2
    Cream shortening and sugar. Add water Blend well
  • Step 3
    Add eggs.
  • Step 4
    Add pumpkin.
  • Step 5
    Add baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and ground cloves. Blend well.
  • Step 6
    Add flour, blending after each cup.
  • Step 7
    Optional: Stir in 2/3 cup raisins and/or 2/3 cup walnuts.
  • Step 8
    Bake large loaf 70 minutes, small loaves 50 minutes, or until it passes the toothpick test.
