I usually make this around Thanksgiving. It is so good!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup shortening (crisco)
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)

How To Make pumpkin bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In mixing bowl cream together brown sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Add pumpkin and milk, mix well.
  • Step 2
    Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, ginger, baking soda and cloves. Add to creamed mixture, mixing well.
  • Step 3
    Stir in nuts and raisins (both optional). Turn into greased 9x5x3 loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan. Wrap and store overnight before slicing. Enjoy.
