This is my mom's famous pumpkin bread... She serves this with cream cheese icing... absolutely the best pumpkin bread I have ever had and I love pumpkin and have tried lots... rich flavor and oh so yummy.... ( I don't sift the dry ingredients I wisk them in a bowl but my mom sifts and this is her recipe, I think whisking is fine and I haven't had a problem with this technique LOL, much,much, easier)Out of this world... thanks mom :)

Ingredients

  • 3 1/3 cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon each, nutmeg,ginger,allspice,cloves
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 4 - eggs
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 - can pumpkin (small can 15 oz)
  • 1 cup oil

How To Make pumpkin bread

  • Step 1
    Sift together dry ingredients. Mix wet ingredients together add all at once to dry ingredients mixing well but not overmixing.
  • Step 2
    Put into 2 sprayed and floured loaf pans and bake at 350 for 1 hour checking after about 50 minutes and inserting a toothpick into center of loaves. If comes out clean remove from oven. (each oven is different & you don't want to burn this)
