The almond extract, in combination with the orange glaze is divine! It's really moist and flavorful - and it smells great, too.

Ingredients

  • BREAD
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 - eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons butter extract
  • GLAZE
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice

How To Make almond poppy seed bread

  • Step 1
    Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 2
    Combine the first five ingredients. Add eggs, milk, oil and extracts. Pour into two greased loaf pans. Bake for 60-65 min. Cool completely in pans. Loosen the loaves if necessary to make removal after glaze is applied easier.
  • Step 3
    In a saucepan, bring glaze ingredients to a boil. Pour over loaves in their pans. Cool for 5 minutes. Remove loaves from pans and cool completely on wire racks. Place cookie sheet under racks to catch any drips.
