This is a great bread. Cut yourself a piece of bread, right from the oven, slathered with homemade strawberry jam. I've never baked any bread that tasted half as good. Source: unknown

- - 3 cups flour
- - 2 1/4 cups sugar
- - 2 tbsp. poppy seed
- - 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- - 1/2 tsp. salt
- - 3 eggs
- - 1 1/2 cups milk
- - 1 cup cooking oil
- - 2 tbsp. finely shredded orange peel
- - 1 1/2 tsp.v anilla divided
- - 1 tsp. alomond extract, divided
- - 3/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
- - 1/4 cup orange juice
How To Make orange poppy seed bread

Step 1Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, poppy seed, baking powder, and salt. Add eggs, milk, oil, orange peel, 1 tsp. of the vanilla and 1/2 tsp. of the almond extract. Beat with mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.

Step 2Pour batter into 2 greased 8 x 4 inch loaf pans. Bake about 1 hour or til a toothpick inserted near centers comes out clean. Meanwhile, for glaze, in a medium bowl, stir together powdered sugar, orange juice, the remaining 1/2 tsp. vanilla and remaining 1/2 tsp. almond extract til smooth.

Step 3Using a long tined fork, poke holes in tops of baked loaves. Pour glaze over loaves. Cool loaves in pans for 10 minutes. Remove bred from pans. Cool thoroughly on wire racks. Makes 2 loaves, or 18 servings.
