my strawberry nut bread
Grandma thought my recipe was extravagent because it used strawberry jam, butter, and sour cream. But once she tried it she loved it. I got this recipe from a friend in California about 20 years ago and have been making it frequently ever since.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon lemon extract
- 4 - eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup strawberry jam
- 1/2 cup dairy sour cream
- 1 cup chopped walnuts, optional

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter, sugar, vanilla, and lemon extract. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir together flour, salt, cream of tartar, and soda. in another bowl mix jam and sour cream. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture alternately with jam mixture. Beat until well combined. Stir in nuts.

Step 2Pour batter into 2 well greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes or until bread tests done with a toothpick inserted in center. Remove from oven. Cool 10 minutes and then remove from pan to cool completely.
