Ingredients
- 4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup seedless raisins (aren't all raisins seedless - ok mom - lol!)
- 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
How To Make *** mom's irish soda bread ***

Step 1Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2In a large bowl sift together flour through salt. Use pastry blender & but butter in until crumbly. Stir in raisins. Add buttermilk & stir until mixture is combined & forms a soft dough.

Step 3Turn out onto a floured surface. Gather dough into a ball & knead 6 - 8 turns until dough holds together. Shape into a 7" round dish & place on ungreased bake sheet.

Step 4Cut 1" deep X across top of bread & bake 40 - 45 minutes until brown. Bread should sound hollow when tapped on bottom.

Step 5Let cool on a rack.
