This recipe belongs to my late mother-in-law Amanda Gainey aka "Momma Gainey" She died when I was 1 day from being 11 months old. Actually she died on Labor Day which was Sept 3, 1979.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 - egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- - oil for deep fat frying
- - confectioners' sugar
How To Make momma gainey's sugar donut holes

Step 1In a large mixing bowl - combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg

Step 2In a small mixing bowl - combine egg, milk and butter

Step 3Add wet mixture to dry ingredients; mix well

Step 4In a electric skillet or deep fat fryer - heat oil to 375 degrees F

Step 5Drop dough by heaping teaspoons full, 5 or 6 at a time, into oil

Step 6Fry until browned, about 1 to 2 minutes, turning once

Step 7Drain on paper towels

Step 8Roll in confectioners' sugar
