This recipe comes from my mom. She used to make it a lot during the holidays.

2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1/2 t. baking soda
1/4 cup shortening
1 t. grated orange peel
3/4 cup orange juice
1 well beaten egg
1 cup fresh cranberries
1/2 cup nuts

How to Make Mom Marcon's Cranberry Bread


  • 1Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Mix peel, juice and egg,
    and add to dry ingredients. Mix just to moisten.
  • 2Bake at 350 for 60 minutes.
    Cool. Wrap and store overnight. Hint: To avoid nuts and berries from sinking
    to bottom, add part of the flour mixture to nuts and berries before adding
    to batter.
