Make this spiced cranberry nut bread all fall and holiday season. This festive quick bread is packed with cranberries and hazelnuts. The spice is subtle and pairs well with the other ingredients. Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 4 tablespoons water
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup fresh cranberries, roughly chopped
- 1 cup hazelnuts, roughly chopped
- confectioners' sugar, for dusting

Step 1Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Sift the flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and ginger into a large mixing bowl.

Step 2Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Pour in the orange juice, melted butter, water, and egg.

Step 3Using a wooden spoon. beat the liquid mixture gradually drawing in the flour from the outside edge.

Step 4Add the cranberries and nuts. Stir to mix completely.

Step 5Lightly grease a loaf pan about 9 X 5". Press a strip of parchment paper on the base and up the sides. Lightly grease the paper and flour the whole inside of the pan. Spread batter into the prepared pan.

Step 6Bake in a preheated oven for about 1 hour or until a skewer inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

Step 7Let sit in the pan for about 5 minutes. Then remove the bread and cool on a wire rack.

Step 8Lightly dust with confectioners' sugar, if desired. Cut into slices to serve.
