This is a treat that my mom and I used to make for church bake sales! It went quickly as everyone knew what a great cook Mom was.

Ingredients

  • 3 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    oil
  • 3 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 2/3 c
    water
  • 2 c
    sweet potatoes, cooked andf mashed
  • 1 c
    pecans or walnuts
  • 4
    eggs

How to Make Louisiana Sweet Potato Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine sugar and oil and beat well. Add eggs.
  2. Combine dry ingredients and add to egg mixture, alternating with water. Stir in mashed sweet potatoes and nuts.
  3. Pour batter into 3 lined and sprayed loaf pans. Bake for 1 hour.
