Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk...room temperature
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • - grated rind of 1 lemon
  • GLAZE
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • - juice of 1 lemon
  • - combine sugar and lemon..mix well.

How To Make lemon nut bread

  • Step 1
    Cream shortening and sugar.Add eggs 1 at a time and beat.
  • Step 2
    Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.Add nuts and lemon rind.Mix well.
  • Step 3
    Pour into well greased loaf pan.Bake 350 for 1 hour.
  • Step 4
    While loaf is still hot and cooling in pan,prick 30 holes in top of loaf...Spread glaze over loaf. Glaze will seep into bread. Allow to cool. Remove from pan.
