5 calpurpose flour

3/4 csugar
-
2 tspbaking powder
-
1 tspbaking soda

1 1/2 tspsalt

1 stickbutter
-
2 craisins
-
2 1/2 cbuttermilk
-
1 largeegg (slightly beaten)
How to Make Irish Soda Bread
- Sift dry ingredients into large bowl,Add cold butter and rub into flour till like soft bread crumbs.Stir in the raisins,Add buttermilk and egg stir until good and moist.Flour counter real well and knead just a wee bit, don't over do it or it will make it tuff when baked.Shape into two loaves and place in greased and floured loaf pans or can be shaped into two small round loves and placed on cookie sheet, With sharp knife cut a cross shape on top of loves that is to let the wee faries out lol!!.Bake in 350degree oven for 1hr.depending on your ovens check at about 50mins. by tapping on the bottom it should sound hollow.Place on cooling rack wrapped in a tea towel to keep the crust soft or if you like crusty bread just leave as is. Enjoy!!
