I have been making this bread for over 35 years for St. Patrick's Day. It is a cross between a cake and bread, moist and delicious. I leave it out most of the day and wrap it in plastic and put in refigerator, or freeze some...Enjoy with butter..

Ingredients

  • 4 cups unbleached flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 cup dark rasins

How To Make irish soda bread

  • Step 1
    Sift dry ingredients together 3 times.(trust me it's worth it)
  • Step 2
    Add the eggs beaten, 2 cups of buttermilk. Mix well Add the raisins.
  • Step 3
    use a 10 inch cake pan or skillet. I use pam spray. Pour batter into pan , It will be thick. Make a large cross on top of loaf. set oven to 350.
