Every year we took the kids to pick out there pumpkin to carve. I always picked out one special to cook and use for my favorite recipes. Pumpkin bread was the favorite of my family.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound prepared pumpkin (canned is fine)
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup corn oil
  • 4 - eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon allspice, ground
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup water

How To Make indiana pumpkin bread

  • Step 1
    For best results use Large bowel and wooden spoon. (not Mixer). Prepare 3-4 loaf pans by generously greasing and flouring. Preheat oven to 350.
  • Step 2
    Combine sugar, oil, eggs. and pumpkin. Mix well.
  • Step 3
    Sift all dry ingredients and add to the pumpkin mixture all at once and mix well.
  • Step 4
    Add water and mix again.
  • Step 5
    Divide pumpkin bread into the 3-4 pretreated loaf pans.
  • Step 6
    Bake at 350 degree oven for 1 hour or till tooth pick comes out clean when inserted in middle. Makes 3-4 loaves.
