This is a great holiday bread - but who can resist chocolate and bananas at any time of the year?

    large bananas, mashed (about 1 1/3 cup)
  • 2 1/3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    semisweet chocolate chips

How to Make Holiday Banana Bread


  1. In a large bowl, cream margarine & sugar until light.
  2. Beat in eggs and bananas. (Mixture will look curdled.)
  3. In a small bowl, combine remaining ingredients. Stir into banana mixture just to blend - do not overmix.
  4. Pour batter into a greased 9" x 5" x 3" loaf pan or (3) 5 1/2" x 3" x 2 1/4" loaf pans.
  5. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 55 - 65 minutes for 9" x 5" x 3" or 35 - 45 minutes for smaller loaves or until tests done.
  6. Cool 10 minutes in pan; remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack. May be sprinkled with powdered sugar before slicing.
