Ingredients

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 c
    quick cooking rolled oats, ground
  • 1/2 c
    molasses
  • 2 Tbsp
    shortening, melted
  • 2 c
    sour milk
  • 1 c
    raisins

How to Make Health Bread

Step-by-Step

  1. Sift the first five ingredients together.
  2. Add the oats, molasses, melted shortening and milk.
  3. Mix thoroughly and add the raisins.
  4. Pour into a large greased loaf pan.
  5. Let it set for 20 minutes then bake about 1 hour at 350.
  6. Note: The rolled oats may be ground with a rolling pin or in the meat grinder.
